Bachmann Campaign Organizer Tied to "Kill the Gays" Backer in Uganda
A film about Waldron’s experience is apparently in the works, titled The Ultimate Price: The Peter E. Waldron Story. While Waldron was in Uganda from 2002 to 2006, the Republican political activist was reportedly arrested with a small weapons cache. The details are murky but he spent more than a month in prison.
The surfacing of this name, tied to Uganda, got people wondering. And it turns out Waldron was spotted by happenstance while visiting the church of staunchly antigay, and dangerous, pastor Martin Ssempa. A journalist with The New Republic, Andrew Rice, bumped into them together while researching an article on evangelicals in the country.
Ssempa is well known for inflaming violence against gay people in Uganda, even screening gay porn to incite backlash. While no one is reporting that Waldron actively helped push for the “Kill the Gays” bill that is even now still being considered by the country’s parliament, Rice says that Waldron regaled Ssempa’s congregation with stories and seemed like a minor celebrity. Waldron spoke about his time in the military (which Waldron strongly implied was CIA related), his visit to the White House, and he bragged about being cozy with the Ugandan president.
So yeah guys, this is SERIOUS news. Spread it around!
Pelosi to Bachmann: Address the Teen Suicides in Your District
…Pelosi told The Advocate of Bachmann’s silence on the issue, “I would think that if she wanted to be the President of the United States, she would understand that this is a larger issue than whether someone is gay or not, but as to whether someone is harassed and bullied to the point of seeing no way out…
This is exactly why I love Pelosi. She ain’t afraid to call bitches out on their shit.
Teen suicides don't bother Rep. Bachmann
I live in this woman’s district so I take this flagrant disregard for human life extremely personally. As both a member of the LGBTQA community and a decent human being, I abhor Ms. Bachmann’s willful ignorance towards the issue of bullying & teen suicide.
However, I’m not surprised Ms. Bachmann is dodging questions about her husband’s anti-gay clinic AND the recent scrutiny of schools in her district by the Justice Department and the Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights.
She’s too busy hiding in bushes spying on those pesky gay rights rallies.
There’s so many jokes I could make… But I’ll refrain.
Also speaking as an LGBT person, I understand some concerns within the community with Obama’s advocacy (or the perceived lack thereof) for our rights. But consider this, folks: in the unlikely, unthinkable event that Bachmann becomes president, we will have gone from having a Commander-in-Chief that took time to film an It Gets Better video to one that perpetuates the very problem those videos are fighting against.
Michele Bachmann STILL Silent on Issue of Teen Suicides in Her District
“I feel if I hadn’t moved to this district my daughter wouldn’t have died,” a mother of a seventh-grade girl who took her life told Mother Jones, who published an investigative piece yesterday about the “the teen suicide epidemic” in Bachmann’s district.
State officials have designated the district a “suicide contagion area,” and the Justice Department and the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights are both investigating how anti-gay bullying may have played a role in the spike in suicide rates.
Bachmann’s office has yet to comment.
Until it does, critics are highlighting prior quotes of Bachmann’s and actions of her supporters, according to Slate.
In 2006, Bachmann told the Minnesota state legislature that passing an anti-bullying bill would be a waste of time.
I think for all of us, our experience in public schools is there have always been bullies. … Always have been, always will be. I just don’t know how we’re ever going to get to the point of zero tolerance. … What does it mean. … Will we be expecting boys to be girls?
I would like everyone to take a minute and just soak in that quote I bolded. I honestly am at a loss of words to describe the feeling I get after reading it. The world must learn of her hate, and they must learn now before more at risk youth take their own lives. Please share this with everyone you know, this is VERY important.
The Teen Suicide Epidemic in Michele Bachmann’s District
The first was TJ. Then came Samantha, Aaron, Nick, and Kevin. Over the past two years, a total of nine teenagers have committed suicide in a Minnesota school district represented by Rep. Michele Bachmann—the latest in May—and many more students have attempted to take their lives. State public health officials have labeled the area a “suicide contagion area” because of the unusually high death rate.
Some of the victims were gay, or perceived to be by their classmates, and many were reportedly bullied. And the anti-gay activists who are some of the congresswoman’s closest allies stand accused of blocking an effective response to the crisis and fostering a climate of intolerance that allowed bullying to flourish. Bachmann, meanwhile, has been uncharacteristically silent on the tragic deaths that have roiled her district—including the high school that she attended.
This is your morning must-read. More here. .
I know this blog deals in humor and making light of Ms. Bachmann from time to time, but this is serious. Suicide is NOT a joke.
Please read it.
Gay Glitter ‘Barbarians’ Descend on Bachmann Clinic
Nick Espinosa, the activist responsible for glittering Newt Gingrich, and several others today launched a colorful action at Marcus Bachmann’s clinic where Bachmann is said to practice gay “reparative therapy”.
Writes Espinosa in a press release:
Today a horde of gay barbarians descended upon Michele and Marcus Bachmann’s “pray away the gay” clinic and demanded that Marcus come out and discipline them for their “deviant” behavior.
Marcus Bachmann, who conducts “reparative therapy” at the clinic intended to convert homosexuals, has said that gays are “barbarians who need to be disciplined.” The horde requested to speak directly with Bachmann and experience some “discipline” for themselves.
When Marcus was no where to be found, the barbarians glittered the empty waiting room and reception area while chanting, “You can’t pray away the gay — baby, I was born this way!”
The action was organized by the same young man who threw glitter on Newt Gingrich, starting a national trend in political protest of anti-LGBT sentiments from political candidates and campaigns.
“Michele and Marcus Bachmann think gay people are barbarians?” asked LGBT activist Nick Espinosa. “I think its clear to everyone who the real barbarians are, based on the Bachmanns’ archaic views on LGBT equality.”
I expect we’ll see a video of some sort soon.

Marcus Bachmann Acts as Michele's Sometime Stylist
From a 2006 Star Tribune article about the then-Congresswoman-elect’s “haute” style:
Shopping help comes from another quarter, as well. Before Vice President Dick Cheney’s visit this past summer, Bachmann’s husband, Marcus, hit the stores — “he’s got a good sense of style” — and came home with “a sleek, simple hourglass dress with a yoke collar in winter white.” He even bought a matching coat and shoes. “I just slipped it on.”
The last thing we want to do here at STFUBachmann is continue childish stereotypes about the gay community, but when a site with the tagline ‘A Site with Homosexual Tendencies’ brings it up, we’re inclined to listen.
Folks, what are your opinions on all of this? Is Marcus a self hating closet-case?
EDIT: The fact Marcus Bachmann likes to shop is in no way indicative of his sexuality (which, btw, doesn’t matter when judging a persons character), this is just to point out one of the many stories that are in the blogosphere right now.
How I Went Undercover at Bachmann's Clinic
Truth Wins Out activist John Becker took a hidden camera with him to five therapy sessions at a Christian counseling center run by Marcus Bachmann.
